Where Summer Has Taken Us
Summer usually means vacation time, and apparently the Farm to Fit team got the memo.
As customers head off on road trips, camping adventures, family visits, and long-awaited vacations, things tend to slow down a little around here. So we decided it was only fair that a few of us sneak away, too.
We thought it would be fun to introduce you to more of the people behind Farm to Fit and share where everyone has been wandering this summer. Some traveled across the country, some stayed closer to Portland, and nearly everyone spent at least part of the trip swimming.
Here’s where summer has taken the Farm to Fit team so far.
Dre and G. Scott
Dre and G. are the owners and creators of Farm to Fit, and they’ve been making the most of summer.
Their first stop was Boise, Idaho, where they attended the wedding of a former employee they hired nearly 15 years ago. From Boise, they traveled with their daughter to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, to relax with old friends and enjoy some time by the Atlantic.
Eventually, work called Dre back to Portland. G. and their daughter continued on to North Carolina to spend time with family.
Trip highlights included swimming in the warm Atlantic Ocean and playing what Dre and G. described as some of the best rounds of golf of their lives. Bold claim—but we’ll take their word for it.
And they’re not finished yet. Next up is another wedding in Philadelphia. Dre and G. clearly know how to keep a summer calendar full.
Andrew
You may remember Andrew from a previous Team Spotlight post. He is also the person behind every lunch Farm to Fit offers, so there’s a good chance you’ve enjoyed some of his work.
This summer, Andrew, his wife and their five-year-old twins packed up for a family road trip down the coast. Along the way, they stopped in Crescent City to see the redwoods and visited Newport on the drive home.
The towering redwoods were a major highlight for the adults. For the twins, the hotel swimming pools may have stolen the show. Sometimes the simplest vacation activities are the hardest to beat.
Neil
You might also remember Neil from one of our Team Spotlight posts. He is Farm to Fit’s executive chef and recently traded the kitchen for an action-packed family trip to Disneyland.
Neil, his wife and their two children spent plenty of time exploring the parks, but they also managed to visit family and stop by the famous Magic Castle.
Between Disneyland and the Magic Castle, this trip had no shortage of magic—or opportunities to stand in line.
We’re guessing everyone needed a vacation after the vacation.
Erica
Some of you may have met Erica during a Wednesday or Sunday kitchen pickup, where she helps customers, but she’s also one of our meal packagers behind the scenes.
Erica is currently in Indiana with her daughter for their annual family visit. This year’s trip also includes celebrating her sister’s 50th birthday, so there is likely no shortage of catching up, good food, and family stories.
We can’t wait to hear how it went—and hopefully see a few photos—when they return.
LeeAnn
Some of you may have spoken with LeeAnn on the phone or received an email from her, since she oversees client services.
She stayed fairly close to Portland this summer, traveling to rural Lebanon for a long weekend with family. The agenda was refreshingly simple: relax by the pool, play yard games and make big family meals.
Highlights included watching a beautiful sunset over a wide field of clover and telling funny stories from years past—the kind that somehow get a little more dramatic every time they’re told.
She also has another family gathering planned in Carson, Washington, around Labor Day, so her summer adventures aren’t quite finished yet.
A Little Time Away
Whether the destination was Disneyland, the Oregon Coast, the Atlantic Ocean or a quiet backyard with a pool, everyone found their own way to enjoy a little time away this summer.
Now we’re back in the kitchen, answering emails, cooking, packing meals and comparing vacation stories—at least until the next trip comes along.
